Insurtech UK and ACSO come together to spearhead new technology opportunities in the claims industry

Insurtech UK, the trade association for the community of insurtech startups in the UK, and the Association of Consumer Support Organisations (ACSO), which represents businesses that look after consumers making a claim, have become association partners.

Matthew Maxwell Scott, ACSO executive director, said the agreement acknowledged the increasingly important role insurtechs play in the claims industry.

"Claims has historically been underinvested in but the need to manage costs and improve consumer outcomes has brought about significant new interest in technology both among insurers and in their supply chains, where most of our members operate."

"We are keen to bring more understanding of our members' future technology requirements to those who are in a position to develop that technology. Our associate partnership will enable both parties to better understand the cause and effect of changes sweeping through the claims industry."

Maxwell Scott cited alternative dispute resolution (ADR), digital claims processing, digital rehabilitation and treatment, and claims management as areas where technology is already becoming a significant player.

James York, co-chair of Insurtech UK, said: "It's great to have the opportunity to work through ACSO and engage with the businesses involved in claims delivery. Together we can help drive better understanding of the claims industry's direction of travel and create better customer journeys - powered by intuitive technology.

"Insurtech UK and ACSO can now work collaboratively in shaping the future for the claims industry, and armed with the opportunity the insurtech wave brings, we have already begun to plan for a series of interactions in the early part of 2022."
