My time on the Association of Consumer Support Organisations (ACSO) secondment programme has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my professional career. The opportunities that have been afforded to me in such a short space of timer have helped to develop better my understanding of the legal services industry and the various stakeholders that contribute to the workings of the civil justice system.
From my very first day, I felt welcomed into the team and was supported throughout. My contributions are always met with constructive and helpful feedback, and the learning I have taken from it has helped to improve my professional skills.
I have particularly enjoyed working with my fellow secondees, Duncan and Dan, who are a credit to their respective firms. I have made lasting relationships with them and the rest of the ACSO team.
Underpinning my time with ACSO has been the preparation of a research report on proposals to reform clinical negligence litigation costs. This allowed me to engage with senior stakeholders and gain valuable insight from thought leaders within the sector. ACSO is committed to creating a symbiotic relationship between parties within the clinical negligence market and it was hugely satisfying to make a valuable contribution to this work.
Additionally, it was heartening to see the tireless work that ACSO does to protect the interests of consumers and it was a privilege to be involved with an organisation that so closely aligns with my own values.
I was fortunate enough to be the first trainee from Fletchers Solicitors to join the ACSO secondment programme and it will be great to see the programme continue between the two organisations.
