Commenting on the publication of the Ministry of Justice's 'Call for evidence on dispute resolution in England and Wales', published on 29 March, Matthew Maxwell Scott, executive director of the Association of Consumer Support Organisations (ACSO) said:
"Widespread adoption of dispute resolution tools in more and more areas of civil justice is gathering pace. More insurers and law firms are using it, and with year-long court backlogs set to continue for the foreseeable future, the government should waste no time in bringing forward a White Paper with concrete proposals.
"Dispute resolution has proven to be consumer friendly, and an excellent means of securing access to justice. The government's response is welcome, but we'd like to see a more dynamic approach from the MoJ to this opportunity."
