Lobbying from ACSO has resulted in welcome changes to the Damages Claims Portal (DCP). These went live on 1 June 2023, and as a result, law firms have visibility of all cases the firm has within the DCP, as well as the status of those claims. This is coupled with a much-improved ability to share and remove case access within a firm.
ACSO has played a central role in highlighting the challenges faced by practitioners by the design and operation of the DCP, particularly in respect of supervision obligations. While there remains further work to be done to improve the operation of the DCP and mitigate the challenges faced by practitioners, this is a very positive step forwards.
The ACSO DCP Sub-Group meets again later in June to continue the collaborative approach which is essential to the DCP having the positive effects on consumers that were originally anticipated.
